一晃眼，加爾祖和這幾個男人已經共同生活了二十多年。說來也奇怪，這樁婚事倒不是那種老派的父母之意，不過是一段普普通通的愛情故事罷了。和所有愛情故事一樣，開頭也少不了磕磕絆絆。納倫德回憶說，他和加爾祖打小就是一個村的。那會兒，她18，他24，兩人就看對眼了。可橫在他們中間最大的麻煩是加爾祖早就許給了另一戶人家。那家有三個兄弟等著娶她，只不過她心裡不樂意。納倫德把想娶加爾祖的想法告訴給了父母，得到家人的支持後，他直接去那戶人家商議著能不能放人。事情進展得很順利，一筆三百歐元的補償金，外加一卷布和一匹絹就把事談妥了。那時候，他幾個弟弟還小，娶媳婦這樣的大事也沒法跟他們商量。不過弟弟們心裡都清楚這種事情在村裡並不鮮見，何況後來加爾祖對他們也特別好，這個家就這麼順順當當地過了起來。
Garzhu’s thoughts drifted back to the beginning—it was Narende who had brought her into this family. Back then, Narende had told her that his brothers were both amiable and kind, and that living with the family from then on would surely be a good life. Back then, she was 18 and he was 24, and they took a liking to each other right away. But the biggest obstacle standing between them was that Galzu had long been promised to another family. That family had three brothers waiting to marry her, though she herself was not happy about it. Narend told his parents of his intention to marry Garzu; after gaining his family’s support, he went directly to that family to negotiate her release. Things went very smoothly, and the matter was settled with a compensation payment of 300 euros, plus a roll of cloth and a piece of silk. At that time, his younger brothers were still young, so he couldn’t consult them on such a major matter as marriage. However, they all understood that this sort of arrangement was not uncommon in the village, and besides, Garzu treated them exceptionally well afterward. And so, the family settled into a smooth and harmonious life.
